Didn't help me
"Nothing, I have been unable to pay off my student loans since I left my husband. I have two kids and everything I earn goes to housing, food and gas. My tax checks go directly to the gov't. I do not get support and left to protect my kids from verbal abuse."

i owe! i owe! and that's where the money did go!
"We are using it to pay on our trucknote. As a military family, our income is real little, so the rebate is helping to pay off what we owe. We are still behind, but it helped a little. If only gas would drop some."

Credit cards and heat
"We spent half on paying down my credit cards which has been used to pay tuition for college courses. The other half we used to put towards a new pellet furnace since our present gas furnace is costing us thousands per year in fuel (as you can see behind me , we have no insulation - ha ha!). Seriously, we live in Maine, so heat is a necessity. "

OMG, WE NEEDED THAT MONEY ......
"Well this is a little different... My husband & I received our letter informing us Our Stimulus check had gone out... We were very excited.. We were going to go to a 'Car Auction & get a car/clunker. Something to get us around so He can go to work... Wednesday my husband wakes me up, "Hey honey, Our check finally can, sign it so I can go cash it..." he says... BUT... [sniff sniff] when I open it, there's a letter inside stating that 'The entire amount, $600.00 was applied to my husbands VA medical bill!!! I can not describe the pain I got in my chest & still have. I would not have ever imagined that would happen, especially since $200 + is already being deducted from his SSI Retirement check anyway... OMG, WE NEEDED THAT MONEY SO SO VERY BAD !!!"

Child Support Will Get You!!
"BOUGHT? I did not get a chance to buy anything. The economic stimulus was taken by the IRS. Therefore, I guess I bought an education, a little too late. Got married, husband had a son, owed back child support. I have been paying since 1994, including my annuity. Marrying someone who owes child support is the worst prison you could ever be confined to in Louisiana. Ladies, do some research because the IRS will drain you for every dime they can get from you."

Grill
"I decided to spoil myself alittle since all of my tax return check goes to bills that I couldn't pay during winter months. I decided that 5 years without a grill was long enough...I bought a Traeger grill.(It was at wholesale price) I also paid back the payday loan that I had to take out just to make my car payment which was already 2 months behind.I may be broke now, but I'm eating better. Lol."

I bought illegal fireworks, So sue me
"Fireworks, which are higly illegal in my insurance industry owned state of Michigan. I bought hundreds of dollars worth. I didn't need the check, but if Uncie Sam is giving away money, I'll find an illegal way to spend it. Bottle rockets, Roman candles, firecrackers, and BIG BIG explosives to celebrate the stupidity that can be AMERICA!"

Summer Day camp took my money
"Paid for 2 weeks of summer day care camp for the 3 girls. With it being almost $500 a week for 3 kids. And the rest went to my gasoline bill for my car. Wish I could have spent it on me. "

The Inlaws
"Well, we had planned to put it torwards our first vacation to an all inclusive island getaway at the end of the summer, then gas prices went up and My wifes parents from France are coming out in August so the money will be to ensure we have gas to show them some sites around our beloved state of illinois. Made just a LITTLE too much to get a rebate
"Because I made over $75,000 last year (just over), I didn't get a check. Then, just when the checks started coming out, I was laid off with no end in sight. So, I could really use the money, but because I feel on the low end of the ceiling, I get nothing. We are buying store brand groceries, consolidated to an economy vehicle, cut our cable and are just paying our bills. I guess we count as higher middle class BUT we TOO are completely Affected by this economy and the arguments on Capitol Hill by millionaire representatives that care more about their terms than the folks they represent! And don't get us started on the baloney discussions regarding Oil..."

Dont Know
"Well I might have bought a few more lionel trains and some things for my children but have not got the check and still have not got the main tax refund either.Same IRS crap every year and file in January and never get till august. Its the same old deal ,bills run up and end up spending it all to survive increasing fuel, grocery, school, utilities, interest, and life.Politics cost us all money and promises from elections go undone.Guess ill have to play the lottery and pray I win to buy an island away from it all."

Average Mid 20's guy
"My rebate went to paying off my car insurance, paying my Dad back for airplane ticket to a wedding I have to go to (credit was ruined in the last year), and food for this weekend. Still not enough to pay off this parking ticket and the body damage to my car from last years major snow storm. I would have been happier if my credit card company stopped upping my limit without telling me while my Mom was dying."

I'M SORRY
"Unfortunately I purchased an attorney with my stimulus check. I feel like such a turd as my family deserves so much more and our $ has been spent on my mistake. I drove home after drinking- and even though my wife was 100% sober, since I was driving, I rec'd a citation for being 0.15 over the legal limit. Now....my children must suffer....I must suffer...my wife will suffer....my situation is one that is somewhat unique but nontheless is one that is unfortunate and I wish my family was reaping more of the benefit of the economic check. But I have no one to blame but myself."

SCREWED
"I didn't spend mine because I didn't receive one. I chose to go to college but I still live with my parents, therefor I don't get one. From what I see students spend much more money than adults do, therefor the government has screwed up again. Stimulate the economy? "

Money stayed in America
"Due to the fact that American consumerism has turned the stores into one big funnel with the end pointed overseas, the wife and I decided to spend our check at Yard Sales. We wanted to ensure that the money stayed in the U.S. for at least a little bit. The Oil companies didn't get a dime. The sweatshops in china and other places didn't get a dime. Good, honest hardworking Americans got our money and that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside."
