  • Wow, now I have enough $ to survive, thanks.

"Even though I was looking forward to receiving my stimulus check for months, there was nothing to be happy about when I got it. It used to cost me $34 to fill up my gas tank, and as of yesterday, it cost me $58. I live 45 minutes away from "the real world" after my family had to move out to to the farther reaches of suburbia into a small town where, because of the lack of urbanization, housing is affordable, (with the cost of living going up, my family had to keep moving to be able to afford food, electricity and gas along with rent). Over time, this long drive + only being able to work part time because I'm a full time college student = severe debt. I only make $8.50 an hour, you times that by 20 hours a week, minus out car insurance, $58 tanks of gas, paying for $67 contact lense for astigmatism + groceries, etc.,. and you end up with a $1,200 credit card debt at 19 and a stimulus check that disappears as soon as it surfaces. What we all seem to overlook is that our government has distracted us with a minimal $300-$600 (on average) in order to keep our minds off the fact that either way, the cost of living is going up and pretty soon we all wont be able to afford to live. I bought beer, liquor, pot, coke went to the bar. the fun stuff was prolly $250 the rest to filling up my gas take(obviously) got my girlfriend something nice. took her out too. and paid bills, and got more gas..the brunt of it went to gas, and bills tho. • I bought a divorce

"I bought a divorce, and used the money to refresh my attorney retainer. I wanted to buy myself a set or rollerblades. I heard that they were fun and portable exercise to take anywhere. I envisioned myself skating during my lunch hour, or longer paved trails on weekends. Instead, with the retainer secured, I will skating out of this marriage. In the long run I know it was money well spent. "

  • Saving for a cold winters day

"Our property taxes are going up if you can believe that in this economy so we decided to put it into a savings account drawing a whopping half a percent interest. Now if we can pull another couple of grand out of the air our taxes will be paid in December for one more year. The money was spent before we ever got it. I hate taxes!!!"

"I went 20 years into the future and spent $1200 on some candy.

Would have liked to buy something made in future America, but America in 2038 is one of the poorer territories controlled by China. The only thing made in America in 2038 is rubber dog crap, and the Chinese still make it better."

" My adult daughter, who has three babies and a husband, paid off my PayPal account as a gift to me. She did not expect the money back, but my incentive check made it possible for me to return $600.00 to her. It's great when family works together; thanks Uncle Sam."

  • No $ here!

"what stimulus?! Apparently my rent controlled apartment and middle america life in the big expensive city of san francisco means that we earn *too much* to qualify. We have a car from '95 and one from '03 and 2 small kids. We aren't rolling in $ (can't even afford a house!). At least the beach is still free. The dude in the photo goes and makes "sculptures" on the beach for fun. I do have a new $200 camera..."
