  • Gnarly, the best $600 I ever spent

"I bought the cutest puppy ever. I'd been wanting a dog for a really long time and I was going to wait until 2009, but the extra money in my pocket let me get him this year. I saw this little guy and had to have him - say hello to Gnarly. I know it seems kind of selfish and not really stimulating the economy, but you're forgetting about the extra $200 a month I spend on: - Dog food so he can eat - Treats so I can tell him when he's being good - Toys so he doesn't eat my socks - Potty pads to save my floors - Training classes so he can be well-behaved - Car washes because he slobbers on the windows - Bitter apple spray so he doesn't eat my furniture - Leashes because he chews through them so fast and last but not least... - Printed pictures of him so I can show off my mutt Gnarly was a great addition to our family and I don't regret one bit using that money in a selfish way, b/c my seemingly selfish decision, actually really is stimulating the economy, whether I meant it to or not ;-)"

  • Our House is now a Home!

"Two little ladies knocked at our door and decided to give birth to 9 kittens. A cat lady by nature you know what happened next. You fall in love and well you end up with 9 kids running about. So yea my money went to the kids. Can't have any claws, balls, and uteruses flying about. Thank God the vet gives discounts! Woo-Hoo! And I did by a pretty little sundress for myself. Which they love to all hang from."

  • Privacy Fence

"We used our stimulus check to help pay for a new fence that we put up in our back yard. We recently purchased a dog and are planning on children so that was a big priority for us. The check didn't cover the entire cost of the fence, but we used $900 to cover a portion of the builder and used the other $300 on miscellaneous spending."

  • Our Dogs Thank You!

"Our stimulus payment offset the cost of our dogs' annual check-up, shots and one month of dog food. Try lowering the gas prices, taxes and energy costs so we can take our children somewhere further than an hour away from home for vacation!"

  • Emergency Vet

"I spent my money on my cat’s emergency surgery. When I came home on Saturday evening I found him impaled on my elk antlers, I had to lift him off the antlers, and then rushed him to the vet, he ripped his stomach skin completely open. Luckily he had no internal damage. I was glad to have the check; the bill took the check and then some."

  • "I lost my job a month before I (finally) got my check. About a week later I brought home these two little guys because I needed something positive in my life. The check itself is still laying on my desk because I'm trying to decide what bill I can afford to pay this month: my car insurance, my car payment, or my rent. I'd rather trade the $300 check for a better economy so I can find a job."

  • It's the little things that count...

"I spent my check on a few things. Got some groceries, started a small herb garden, got a much needed haircut, cleaning products, some treats for my dog, a video game for my boyfriend, took ourselves out to a nice dinner and bought some new clothes for work. Needless to say all of it is gone and I still have a list of things that I should have gotten. Oh well, figured I should treat myself (and my boyfriend) while I could. Are we gonna get these again next year?? "
