  • I'm just gonna try my luck

"I spent half of it on lottery tickets and spent the rest on buying an internet for my grandson to do better in school. I reckon I should get a lot from those lottery tickets since I usually just buy 5 each week and I have won a couple of times anyway."

  • Privacy Fence

"We used our stimulus check to help pay for a new fence that we put up in our back yard. We recently purchased a dog and are planning on children so that was a big priority for us. The check didn't cover the entire cost of the fence, but we used $900 to cover a portion of the builder and used the other $300 on miscellaneous spending."

  • Thanks for the help with the Wedding Uncle Sam!

" The check helped us out on wedding expenses! We had just gotten marrid in March and when we got our check we promptly applied it to a credit card we opened for wedding costs like the cake and the ceremony fees... Thanks for the delicious wedding cake and a memorable ceremony Uncle Sam! :D "

  • Baby Nanny

"We are putting aside the money to pay for our 10-month-old daughter's childcare. Our $1500 check will pay for about 6 weeks of care at 30 hours per week. Maybe a little will be left over so we can buy her some clothes that aren't Mommy's hand-me-downs!"

  • Groceries, investment, and strippers

"I spent my $600 rebate on store gift cards at Albertsons. They matched it with a 10% bonus, so I got $660 to put towards my grocery bills. Since that was money I was going to spend anyway, I also transferred $150 to my IRA, $150 to my Roth IRA, $150 to Prosper.com, and went to a strip club with the last $150. I still lost less money at the club that night than I did on the stock market that day (and 'Taylor' at least gave me good value for my money)."

  • Fine tuning my hunting rifle.

"I had the rifle I use I use for coyote hunting 'smithed and accurized. I also threaded the barrel and added a flash suppressor- letting Uncle Sam buy the options that the Brady Campaign would hate. Tee-hee!"

  • Zip Code Stimulus-Spending

"In the process of refinancing/purchasing my home. Had a local real estate broker tell us what to do to improve the house for sale. Hired a local handyman to get the entire list of painting, molding, carpentry work done. In addition, replaced door weather-striping, replaced rain gutters (not a bad idea after 19 years of Oregon showers), installed thresholds on four doors and re-stained faded window-sills throughout the house. Every nickel was spent in the same zip code -- ditto with State/Federal refunds received!"

  • Their Down-payment

"When my dad got sick, they took away the house. The car. His pride. Everything. Then they did everything they could not to give him social security though he never took a sick day for 30 years. The government didn't care if he ended up on the street while they penny-pinched. We took him and mum in and used ALL of our rebates to pay his health insurance for a couple more months and make our rental house, with holes in the walls, a little more comfortable for him with his oxygen tank. Something the government SHOULD have provided already. It still gives us a good, terrible laugh. Thanks, Uncle Sam, you're so generous."

  • I was robbed!

"I gave all $200 to my CPA's $300 bill so I would only owe the IRS $1200. But that is not all.. came to find out I was also a victim of ID theft cause the IRS would not accept e-filing. Which is another reason I needed a CPA.. And this is the first time I ever OWED the IRS?? go figure!"

  • Un-Supercuts

"My stimulus money is just mixing into my checking account. I don't plan on buying anything extraordinary. So I guess this haircut was on the government. Even though it's actually my own money that they gave back to me. "
