"I spent my stimulus while I was on vacation in Europe and Turkey. Most of it went to craftsmen in Italy, small businesses like Greek bars, and historic sites like old Islamic mosques in Turkey. Meanwhile where I work over 80 people have been laid-off and the dollar fell even further. Thanks G-Dubs! Great idea!"

"My fiance and I are using our $1200 (600 apiece) towards our wedding fund. We will be entertaining around 150 people this October, and our goal is to do it without having to use any credit cards. So far we've been doing great. As the checks were deposited a few days before we booked the honeymoon, I suppose you could say that is what they specifically paid for. "

"I took myself to the City of Angels... Los Angeles. Went to most every tourist site (Hollywood Blvd., West Hollywood, Venice Beach, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, etc.) but the coolest thing I did was go to the famous Griffith Observatory. Great views from up there. The new Wolfgang Puck restaurant is down below and the food is terrific as are the prices. "

No longer driving around with no insurance
"I had been driving around for a month with no insurance on my car (I know shame on me), so I started an insurance policy. While I was at AAA I also bought Cedar Point tickets (this was planned, not an impulse buy!), I go at least once every year, except last year I couldn't afford it. The rest got spent on groceries and gas. I still hate Dubya with a passion though."

"Trip to FORT JEFFERSON & DRY TORTUGAS NATIONAL PARK. Every year for 14 years we travel to Key West, Florida to visit family. And every year we talked about going to Ft. Jefferson & Dry Tortugas. And every year we did not go. At the cost of $288.00 for the boat, we just could not justify the trip.
This year was the year... No excuses!!! We have the Stimulus check to spend, so this was the year to full fill our dream. I can tell you now, that it was worth every penny and we would do it all again even without the stimulus check!!! "

"We used our money to go to Michigan to take part in our grandsons birth. This is our Tenth grandbaby and we have missed out on all of them. It really felt good to be a part of his birth and not have to wait till he is a few months old before we get to see him the first time. We also got to see the rest of the grandbabies and the family. Wow it was just great. I wish we could get another one so I can see my children and grandchildren again. With gas prices so high, looks like this is my last trip for awhile. I live in Alabama and it is going to kill our S.S check just to get home. Oh well it is worth it.I hope everyone else gets to enjoy thier check like we did and do, or have something meaningful."

The Stimulus
In January, Congress approved $152 billion in economic stimulus checks for millions of American households, intended to boost the economy and avert a recession. Just how this money will be spent remains to be seen. We hope this website helps shed some light on where the stimulus money is going.
