$1200 For a Family of 4
"My husband and I brought some much needed summer gear for our kids, Julia who is now 15 and Jake who is 13. Kids outgrow clothes at such an enormous rate it's mind boggling. LOL! Also hubby and I after making sure the kids were taken care of brought ourselves some clothes. The remaining amount went towards gas and food of course! Oh by the way we received $1200 for a family of four."

Catching Up On Bills
"Being a recent widow I did the only thing I could do, tried to catch up on the bills I was left when my husband passed away. I don't really remember what I specifically spent it on, I just know it didn't go near far enough. "

Dead Fuel Efficient Car
"Thanks to price of gas, bought a '91 Geo Metro Convertible that normally gets 40+ mpg. After buying the car on Craigslist, then driving the car 2 hours to get home, it died at a stop sign in our subdivision. Had car towed, now buying a refurbished engine. We are really helping stimulate St. Louis area with the cost of this very fuel efficient non-working car!"

People are starving
"Well, considering everything in this world wet up in the past year- I spent it on food, and gas. What i don't understand, is how the cost of living is rising, but we all still get paid the same. 60% of houses bought in sacramento, ca last year went into foreclosure. People are losing everything. no one has any money. I can't find a job. And i have the most generic occupation. Half of everyone I know got laid off, because there is no funding. What are people going to do?"

still waiting
"Well we still have not recieved our rebate check... and we are expected to be the very last group go figure! My husband and I both are college students with two little babies under the age of 4 with no transportation so this will be very helpful in getting us a car ... that we will be just staring at in the driveway because we can't afford gas :) Or it will help us getting caught up on rent!"

My Savior from eviction!
"Well ,that drop in unemployment happened to us, on the day before i went in for a c-section my husband was laid off for the 3rd time! buy the time the check arrived he had been laid off a fourth time!Thank god for that check! We saved ourselves from eviction, paid the electric, paid the water bill.got gas,got something to eat, and got the 2 oldest kids a toy,but we're still missing money from the stimulus package we filed jointly and only got $600 for us when it should've been $1200 for married couples,we'll see if i get that money!"

Stimulus my Arss
"Homes foreclosures, gas prices, unemployment rate & utilities rising; our check was spent on gas, food, mortgage & utilities. Anything else was not an option. Baby Bush is only trying to disguise the fact that he's screw up and a terrorist at heart. "

Jeep vs. Ontario
"Just to spite Gdubya, I had planned to save my incentive check and spend it all in CANADA on vacation in August visiting my family. However, my local auto mechanic had other plans - my Jeep wouldn't pass inspection without $550 (out of $600) in brake pads, transmission work, and inspection. The other $50 will probably go towards a new battery for the Jeep too, so it is in tip-top shape for the drive to Lake Huron, up in Ontario (see pic)... I can't wait! George - your check wasn't nearly enough for me to recover or catch a breather from this ridiculous economy! Thanks for nothing!!!"

Thanks Bush for buying my gas from you
"GAS!!! See this thing...it would be different if it was a luxary item but alas its not. I have a family of 8 and i need this to transport them all from dialysis appts for my father to school functions and the grocery store. Since its the only vehicle we can afford right now, with having to supply insurance and the like, my stimulus payment was 2 1/2 tanks of gas for roughly 3 to almost 4 weeks of driving. So basically Bush got his money back huh? "

Love my Yaris!
"Used it for a downpayment on a Toyota Yaris. We'd planned on upgrading from a 5-yr old Toyota Echo anyway and that helped us keep the payments lower. We got the check in the bank in the morning and the dealer chased my check in the afternoon. I think we had it in our virtual hands about 6 hours. "

OMG, WE NEEDED THAT MONEY ......
"Well this is a little different... My husband & I received our letter informing us Our Stimulus check had gone out... We were very excited.. We were going to go to a 'Car Auction & get a car/clunker. Something to get us around so He can go to work... Wednesday my husband wakes me up, "Hey honey, Our check finally can, sign it so I can go cash it..." he says... BUT... [sniff sniff] when I open it, there's a letter inside stating that 'The entire amount, $600.00 was applied to my husbands VA medical bill!!! I can not describe the pain I got in my chest & still have. I would not have ever imagined that would happen, especially since $200 + is already being deducted from his SSI Retirement check anyway... OMG, WE NEEDED THAT MONEY SO SO VERY BAD !!!"

Grill
"I decided to spoil myself alittle since all of my tax return check goes to bills that I couldn't pay during winter months. I decided that 5 years without a grill was long enough...I bought a Traeger grill.(It was at wholesale price) I also paid back the payday loan that I had to take out just to make my car payment which was already 2 months behind.I may be broke now, but I'm eating better. Lol."

Wagons Ho!
"I cashed it and am spending it week by week for gas. I am down to my last $200 from the original $600 received a month ago. When that money is gone, and gas is up even more, I will have to hitch up my horse to a wagon and let her pull me to work. I'm hoping that her manure can be turned into fuel one day. Since everything else in this country has turned to s**t, why not? "
