  • Baby Nanny

"We are putting aside the money to pay for our 10-month-old daughter's childcare. Our $1500 check will pay for about 6 weeks of care at 30 hours per week. Maybe a little will be left over so we can buy her some clothes that aren't Mommy's hand-me-downs!"

"I bought a Beretta M9 because I've been wanting to get a pistol for a long time. Finally got to do it. Now I'm hooked and saving for a Sig P220 in .40S&W."

  • Hip-hop is My Stimulus Package

"I put my $600 to releasing a music album. Here are some sample lyrics from it: "they're paying off the taxpayer hive acceptin Chinese financed rebate bribes buyin Chinese TVs to put in their lives national debt, we're just getting behind lowest in savings, people still slaving all time productive to give to their cravings not me see, I'm droppin' baggage hip-hop is my stimulus package" The money went to an American company for the printing/replication. I hope to sell enough CDs and mp3s to buy a new television."

  • Investing in our world

"I don't feel that the stimulus checks were a responsible solution to our country's challenges or our world's problems. I donated my entire check, splitting the $600 between Books for Africa, whose goal is to "end the book famine in Africa;" Youth Frontiers, an organization that is changing the way young people treat each other in schools; and a subsistence farmer in Burkina Faso with whom I became friends while in the Peace Corps."

  • Tryin' to work with what I got back.

"I wasn't able to buy anything but pay bills. I'm a single mother of 3 kids and I only got $600. I feel robbed but what can I do? I just worked with the money that was given to me and hopefully I'll have some left for uniforms for my kids to go to school. :("

  • Robbing Peter to Pay Paul

"We paid off some credit cards to have money to make car payments on two new-to-us gas-inefficient vehicles, thus perpetuating the debt cycle. I was very happy with the credit card pay-off, not so much with gaining car payments. But it beats getting stuck in the snow countless times this past winter and incurring major body-work to my former car. (Oh, and a little bit paid for the load of gravel to create a parking area so our cars don't end up in snowbanks for much of the winter.)"

  • Livin' La Vida Koo Koo Krazey!

"Had a big giant clambake for me and my family of 12. Lobsters for everybody, as well as clams and BBQ chicken (for the landlubbers) Lots of wine, beer, good music and an open fire pit. We had a blast. Thank you George W. (I am sure the fishermen were happy for the big, giant order!)"
