George Bush bought me Prada & iPhone
"I had been wanting a new pair of sunglasses for a while now, as my previous pair of Prada were a little scratched. I walked into Sunglass Hut the other day and fell in love with these $330 pair. My other $300 will be spent on the iPhone 3G."

Confused But Stimulated
"I was confused about the stimulus check. I thought the government was telling me to go to an adult bookstore and buy some toys for stimulation ! I paid some credit card debt instead and bought some cat toys with catnip ! =^..^= Meow"

Pedaling
"I sold my car in February and have been dragging my feet on buying a bike and becoming less reliant on SF's unreliable public transit system. The payment stimulated me to action. Yes, I think it's an absurd approach to an enormous problem. But, yes, I'm happy to have a bike."

Handsome new grandson, and his big brother.
"We used our money to go to Michigan to take part in our grandsons birth. This is our Tenth grandbaby and we have missed out on all of them. It really felt good to be a part of his birth and not have to wait till he is a few months old before we get to see him the first time. We also got to see the rest of the grandbabies and the family. Wow it was just great. I wish we could get another one so I can see my children and grandchildren again. With gas prices so high, looks like this is my last trip for awhile. I live in Alabama and it is going to kill our S.S check just to get home. Oh well it is worth it.I hope everyone else gets to enjoy thier check like we did and do, or have something meaningful."

Better safe then sorry...
"Bought a CMMG lower reciever from a local gunshop. I figure with Obama's crazy gun stance, I better build a rifle before he tries to take it away from me! Hopefully it doesn't go that far...Thanks dubs!"

Backing up my Mac just took a huge step backward
"I spent a third of my check to get a Apple Time Capsule so I can backup all my data from my MacBook without having to remember to do it. If I lose any of my data, I can just go back in time to retrieve what I lost. The rest I put into my savings."

Easy come, easy go
"I like satirist Will Durst's line about spending the stimulus on either a tank of gas or bag of rice. I considered the myriad of options excitedly - then, a few weeks before I received it, my landlord sent me a notice that my rent was increasing by $55 a month. Therein goes my "windfall" - and a little bit more. Easy come, easy go?"

What is so queer about buying shoes?
"I saw this commercial and said: "hey, my name is Quincy. I'll buy those cool shoes." They were only $5.00, but $295.00 in import taxes from Kyushu, Japan."

The children are our future
"After seeing an article in the paper, I took half my check in cash over to my neighborhood grammer school and handed it over. If only the parents at each school did that, none of the schools would be hurting from the budget cuts in California. What if those of us who arent parents did that too? Besides, it was fun to see the look on the administrators face when she saw the envelope was full of cash!!! There is lots of doom and gloom in the news. What a treat to be good news for someone who needs it."
