"registration and smog check and parts for my car. $100 in gas round trip to visit a sick family member 3 hours away. a night out with movies, dinner, and drinks. $600 isn't much in California"

  • Where did all that money go?

"My husband and I have 5 children so we received $2100. I really cannot figure out how $2100 got spent within a week, but I know that the majority of it went towards gasoline (we are at $4.15/gallon here in IL) and groceries (Walmart) and bills. I did spend $100 at oldnavy.com and I did pay $212 for my summer college course that I am taking next week. I also spent about $300 on food and beverages for my graduation party. Other than that, I don't know where it went! "

  • Pay my debts

"I put my entire stimulus rebate check on my car loan. (A couple more of these checks would be great because then my car would be paid off! Only then will I be able to spend more money shopping). Then I had a yard sale, in hopes the locals would spend their rebate check locally, stimulating my savings account even more! Getting the rebate check was a great motivator to clean out the stuff I don't need. "

  • Victory Garden Mentality

"I spent my check buying materials for a large home garden - including a Mantis tiller, seeds, small greenhouse, books on gardening and seed saving and hoes and rakes. Food is just getting too expensive, especially fresh fruit and veggies. This investment will keep us in food for a many years to come."

  • The Stimulus Dilemma

"I invested it in my t-shirt business TCat Designs:

    The Stimulus Dilemma
(sung to the tune of “ If I Only Had A Brain”)

I could spend it all on flowers,
Or a massage to last for hours
    To take away my pains.
But that seems so very blasé
There must be a greater way
    To stimulate my stimulus

Maybe a coat that’s made from llamas
Or a one way ticket to the Bahamas
    Would Dubya really approve?
    Those choices seem neurotic,
    I should be more patriotic
    To stimulate my stimulus

Oh I should stop and think
And not just spend it on food and drink
Should I pay off that big Visa bill?
    Or donate it,
    to Barak or Hil

    But would the President approve
If I made such a move?
    To help the other side.
No I’ll save it for a rainy
Would that put a smile on Cheney?
    I must stimulate my stimulus.

I could drag my cats to the vet
Or see an opera at the Met
    Would that help the economy?
    Maybe a Lowe’s shopping spree
    With 300 bucks that’s free
    I must stimulate my stimulus

There’s that piece of art I like
    Or maybe a new bike
    Is that really practical?
    I shouldn’t be so rash
    When spending this special cash
How do I stimulate my stimulus??

Oh I could get a rise,
In that place between my thighs
But that’s $15 for one blue pill
    On second thought--
    I’ll do it myself

Now I sit in such derision
On how to make my decision
    Georgie! Give me a sign!
    I know! I’m such a whiz!
I’ll invest it in my biz
    Let’s stimulate TCat Designs!! "

  • Economic Fitness

"Instead of putting it towards much needed debt relief or auto fuel, I treated myself to a new Trek bike. Now I spend no fuel money on short errands. I look at it as an investment in myself (health) and personal finance (less gas consumption)."

  • No Credit For Bush

"I might spend my check after Bush leaves office, my house and cars are paid for, and I have no bills. I'm not particularly interested in providing Mr. Bush with any credit at all. After all, his lavish spending habits are the cause of this situation.

But, then again it depends who the next president is, if it's a Republican, my checks are destined for permanent 'savings'"

  • Nothing Left

"Not only did I not get the full $600 for some reason (and I'm the only one still that I have heard that didn’t get the full 600) but all of it went to the hospital, doctor and credit card bills that we have racked up after having our daughter last year... all because our insurance was bogus and there are so many illegals stealing our government help that I was denied any state or federal assistants... thanks George for the help I love watching you spend so much money on your daughters wedding while I as many other parents sit every night wondering how they will feed their child tomorrow and pray they can give them a roof over their head for another month."

  • A Nice Helpful Push Out of the Country

"We found jobs overseas, but the companies did not offer relocation assistance, so the $1200 that we got jointly will go to a plane ticket. Nothing like using a weakening dollar to go to a more robust and valued economy!"
