The children are our future
"After seeing an article in the paper, I took half my check in cash over to my neighborhood grammer school and handed it over. If only the parents at each school did that, none of the schools would be hurting from the budget cuts in California. What if those of us who arent parents did that too? Besides, it was fun to see the look on the administrators face when she saw the envelope was full of cash!!! There is lots of doom and gloom in the news. What a treat to be good news for someone who needs it."

Handing cash to a school administrator is definitely NOT the recommended method of helping out schools. He probably smiled because an envelope full of cash just made its way into his pocket.

This is either a joke or a fool.

I agree that the administrator was happy that you just padded his pockets. Public schools are among the biggest wasters when it comes to spending. You'd have been better off to ask what the school needed (books for the library, maybe?) and purchase it yourself then donate it.

If you went to the grammer school instead of Grammar school - then perhaps you should consider having used the money to go back to school to spruce up your grammar.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Who on this planet, other than this moron, would think that the way to donate to any charitable cause is to hand over an envelope full of cash? And to a public school administrator? Ah, sober lis, your stupidity makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. And thank you for the laugh. "grammer"? HAHAHAHAHAHA!

I think it is nice you were trying to help. I got really tired this year of my daughter donating all her allowances to every project under the sun at her school to turn around and go out the teacher entrance one day to see all the BMW's, Lexus etc. Be sure you have as much socked away for your future as you will need too. I think it was a kind gesture.

Hey karen
I don't know which school you pull into and find BMW's and Lexus cars but the MAJORITY of teachers do not drive anything close to that. I have been in education my ENTIRE life (even with a PhD) and all over the country too........you have a very skewed view of education if you think that educators make anywhere close to being able to afford those cars, and for the most part that holds true for higher education too!
I think the above person did a wonderful thing by donating to the school. Everyone has to complain about her method of delivery and I work in K-12 (with a PhD) and I know that money is VERY TIGHT and they are NOT wasteful. Give me a break. Before ANYONE responds make sure you know what you are talking about and not speak to your ignorant selves! WOW.....talk about people needing an education! Why don't all the above people spend your stimulus to enhance your own education
It just pisses me off when people speak to things they know NOTHING about!

That's sweet of you to help, but if you were smart enough to realize that the reason the state was in a fiscal crisis was because of mismanaged spending, you would understand your blunder. If we managed our personal budget like the schools in my home state manage it, I'd need a 15% raise every year to get by. It's not like how it was in the golden years when things were rosy and the money was flowing. Now it's time for belt tightening and showing some fiscal responsiblity for the wasteful spending that is rampant in our state and federal politics.
