Home or Health... but not both.
"Put it in savings to stave off going broke for one extra month. My husband was recently laid off and nobody's hiring. My whole paycheck now goes to the mortgage, gas, and COBRA. If this keeps up, we will have to choose between the house and health care."

The Stimulus
In January, Congress approved $152 billion in economic stimulus checks for millions of American households, intended to boost the economy and avert a recession. Just how this money will be spent remains to be seen. We hope this website helps shed some light on where the stimulus money is going.

Sorry to hear about your husband's job loss. My family has had similar experiences in Michigan going from 2-3 jobs each to one or none, so bad so a relocation to Texas was neccesary. I wanted to let you know about www.modestneeds.org You may want to apply with them for a cobra payment or health related payment. They help with emergencies up to $1,ooo. You should also check www.patreasury.org to see if your state is holding any funds for either of you. They are free to claim and come from all sorts of places. Usually if you put in your claim form you have the money in about 3 weeks. Good luck.

I am so sorry to hear about your husband's job loss. But even if you have a job, you are always worrying if you will have it next month or not. It is so sad to go to bed worrying and wake up worrying. Will keep you in my prayers. Good luck.

Dont feel bad...we did have to choose between healthcare and a home. And not even a month afterwards my daughters ended up sick, one cut open her leg and had to have 10 stitches, and myself have had to go to the hospital. We now have racked up even more bills because of no healthcare. So now my stimulus payment will be spent on filing for bankruptcy. =( which i cant offically do until Dec. of next year.
