• Not going to buy me off!!!

"I invested half my 600 dollars to the Democratic Party. I'm notgoing to be bought off by the republicans. They are getting millions of dollars from oil companies, and I'm spending hundreds each year to line those oil company ceo's. I figure I need to do something to get the right people in office."

  • Christ, you are incredibly brainwashed to think that a Democrat is somehow anything but a slimy politician. Grow up.

    Sincerely,
    An Independent

  • That was stupid. Don't you realize Hillary is trying to buy you off for 18 cents per gallon? Nimrod!

  • So, to the Independent and to the Nimrod; or, sorry, I mean the 'Thinker'.. I guess 'KEEP GOING' would be good advice.. To the Independant, whats your CURRENT solution? Do you have one? Ron Paul was AWESOME, dont get me wrong.. but now he's out of the running... So, of those who are left, what'chu gonna do? The country's a mess; from all indicators, Obama is more likely to take smart and 'non-lobied' actions to help turn things towards a better long term course than we're going to get with the other two.

And, to 'Thinker'...well.... I'm not a Hillary fan, so, more power to you...but, I think, of all the huge, crushing issues we >as a people< face, together, focussing on whatever gas tax break Hillary is yabbering about is not where you want to be focussing.. I recall a time when my dollar purchased something and JUICE wasnt as high as $8 at Safeway markets and, of course, a time when gas was not a major percentage of my budget (as a commuter).

More over a time when the Fed Goverment did a good job of keeping these banks, realestate companies, medical companies, etc from abusing their huge power and scamming the public. The current administration has shown how either lenient, negligent or out and out 'in bed' they are with these big companies that are just running amock, taking all of us working slobs for a bath while they either make huge amounts ON the books or get to claim huge lossess -- their OWN damn falts -- and then have the Fed bail them out.. Thats not how its supposed to work. They werent supposed to do stupid things with the wealth of The People...and they did it in order to make a few powerful groups more powerful and more rich.

The gov't, if it does only a few key jobs, certainly SHOULD be there to guard against corruption and the abuse of The People by these huge companies. And then, when its SO PAINFULLY CLEAR that these mega-corporations are just raping The People, there's SUPPOSED to be quick, sure footed and decisive action taken to save the public from these abuses.. Where's that?

If you go with the current admin or their 'next', you're just signing up for more of the same and worse. You've gotta have someone you love or care about somewhere in the country right? Do you think they are better off or safer now? It sure looks like they/you/I/we are ALL worse off as a direct effect of the current administration's actions...

Anyhow... 'People get the goverment they deserve' and that goes both ways. We must have somehow been at a point where we DESERVED The Bush administration and a massive drop in our global standing and a complete wrecking of our Civil Rites, our Privacy Rites, our Freedoms..

Anyhow... be well and I wish us all good luck over the next few years..

  • I suspect the point of "Thinker's" post is that: Why invest your money into the democratic party at this particular time since one of the candidates, who may still with the nomination, is openly trying to buy votes with a policy that has been soundly rejected as flawed by over 200 economists, 4 Noble Peace Prize winners, and others who possess similar qualifications.

  • Perhaps if he had read his letter he would have found out that the stimulus bill was sponsored by Nancy Pelosi-D, CA and passed by the Democrat majority congress. Looks like someone has been reading DailyKos and the other liberal blogs too much.

  • Just a couple quick facts that doesn't get much airtime:

Exxon Mobil paid $100 million more in taxes last year than it made in profits. This is par for the course for this industry:

Many industries, including the computer sector, routinely make higher profits (percentage-wise) than the oil sector.

  • Serious? You not only got paid off by DEMOCRATS and the DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS you then gave it back to them. Talk about a win-win for the liberal movement.

Get your facts straight. You have no idea how government works. You are worried abou oil? Give me a break. Take a trip out of the US and see what it is really like. You should be irritated by the Democratic congress that was voted in 2006. Blame the people that make the law not the guy that has the right to veto it.

Oh, by the way, do you realize you pay less in taxes now (I'm assuming you make somewhere between $30k and $125k a year) than you did when Bill was in the Whitehouse?

Please, educate yourself before making dumb moves like handing Obama/Hillary/Whoever politician money.

  • Hey Joanna, give your credit card # so you can pay for my gas since you seemed sympathic to the oil co's.
