• Burning My Stimulus Check

"I sacrificed my check to a gesture of political indignation. It made me feel better, is why."

• You could have donated that money to people that are hungry, without a job or home. A organization that would have used that money to feed a homeless man, woman and children that are living on the streets or close to that. Instead you just showed the world how selfish you are. And you also showed your lack of humanity and not to mention your stupidity for doing this.
I may not be rich but, i donated a small portion to a homeless selter organization that would use the money.
you seem to be a smart person but, then again looks can be deceiving.

yes George Bush sucks but, their were way smarter ways to protest.

I feel so much smarter just looking at your ignorance burning one's money instead of using it.

• I agree with the other person - what a waste and a pathetic attempt to get attention for yourself. And you do understand that isn't money the government is "giving" you. It's YOUR MONEY in the form of a rebate.

Heck, if you really wanted to make a statement, you should have gone to Burger King and bought six hundred 99 cet doublecheeseburgers and handed them out to the homeless.

Posted by: Bill Jul 6th, 00:45

• What an idiot! Oh well, at least the Democrats won't have to raise our taxes by his $600!!

Posted by: Rick Jul 6th, 07:25

• I have to agree about donating food to the homeless, although anyone who would give Burger King to the homeless rather than health food has their priorities screwed up and is still supporting the "stimulus." You could give a lot more if you got staples or started a garden.

However, I can't say I blame you, either. I was close to doing the same thing or sending the money back to the government. Since Bush wanted this money in the economy, I felt the best thing I could do to protest is save my money, even though it's a financially time.

• Oh look at me oh look at me.. i'm buring my stimulus check ...oh look at me.. i'm making a political statement. NOT!!
now that's a pathetic attempt to get attention for yourself.
loser!
if you think you are making a statement... That 600 bucks is like 6 cents or less compare to the overall amount.
so basically you didn't do nothing but, threw away your own money.

hey here's an idea.. for the next three months... why don't you burn your employment checks you work very hard for.
YEAH YEAH burn em' and see where that gets you.

Posted by: James Y. Jul 6th, 16:54

• You made a real statement alright! You proved that your ungrateful, inconsiderate, selfish and a complete social idiot! There are so many needy people in all over our country. There's any number of organizations in need. Hey, how about our Veterans? I'm sure any number of them would have been happy to receive your kind help. You could have put your check to such good use and helped someone less fortunate. Why don't you spend your time helping to make up for the check you burned. You might feel better about your self in doing so after reading this and all the above comments. I donated 1/2 of mine to charities in my community. It's worth the effort!

• If you really criticize the stimulus package, then the only thing you can do is to reject the money. Had I felt that strongly about the policies that necessitated a stimulus package, mine would be burning too. I haven’t criticized it to that extent, but I will send some of that check to groups like downsizeDC.org and FreeTalkLive.com. I might as well send that money where it could help to shrink government, lower taxes, and provide actual stimulus. Also, consider the following question: If you felt that the stimulus package would harm the economy and create more homeless people in the long run, would you still accept the check and give it to the homeless?

Posted by: Jay Jul 6th, 22:25

• How can you burn free money? If you didn't want the money, you could have donated it to charity instead. I can see that you are not fond of George W. Bush but you got to realize that if a Democrat was president, not only would you NOT get an stimulus check, but you would be paying more taxes. After all, Democrats want you to pay more for less while Republicans want you to pay less for more.

• Have any of you "Feed the Hungry" Morons ever heard of a color copier?

Believe me, you will get the chance to participate in your circle jerk soon enough. There is little or no difference in the puke offered before us by the major political parties. When we get ourselves into WWIII and the Greater Depression, you will all get your chance to "do your part." How does $6.00/gallon gas sound to you?

• He was probably one of the people that got a check for $0.05. I am not impressed.

• Oh snap...

• I have yet to receive my $600 stimulus check, of which was supposed to have been sent to me over a month ago... and I'm in dire need of the money. For my sake, and that of my family. You receive yours and burn it? Okay then... hmmm.

Posted by: lame Jul 16th, 05:35

• Wow. That's pretty hilarious.

Not how I chose to spend my rebate money, but I've got to hand it to you that you don't do things half-way. Congrats on standing up for your principles.

Posted by: George Jul 16th, 21:36

• I do love your poster "Worst president ever" and heartily agree. Good for you to do what you believe is right.

Posted by: JP Jul 18th, 13:56

• The whole point of a protest is to get attention. Though for your message, not yourself. I valued the opportunity to make a statement more than anything else I could have done, so that's what I chose to spend my money on.
It was a simple statement: I dislike Bush, his cronies, and his performance so much that I refuse to accept a gift from him.
For the record, mine was for $400; and yeah, that was the real thing. I didn't need or want it, so I gave it back.

• Wow, you are a f*ing idiot!

You could have opened an IRA with that money since we won't have Soc Sec to rely on. You could have supported your local farmers and bought a bunch of produce to donate to a soup kitchen, given it to one of the struggling families who didn't get a check, donated it to the local elementary school or handed the money out on the street for those of us smart enough to not turn it down.
