  • First off - I love the graphic you used from Threadless.com. But, if you paid $35,000 in taxes, I'm assuming you made over $174k last year, right? I think it's probably safe to say that you didn't need a $600 check the same way someone who made $24k did.

  • yes I did make that much but I should be givin the same as someone who did not
just because I made that much doesn`t mean that the $600 would not come to good use...if someone only made 24k last year maybe they should work harder or get a better job--I have no sympathy for the career path they chose

  • i have no sympathy for somebody who makes $174,000 a year and whines about not getting $600. Get a real problem.

  • I have no sympathy for somebody who feels that some people should keep less of what they earn because they simply earn too much.

In all fairness, he will pay a larger amount towards the ultimate cost of the stimulus package than the $24k/year will. He should at least get to enjoy the $600.

  • Ahhh, take from the rich and give to the poor... Man, socialism at its finest. C'mon moron socialists... We are all better off if the government will just stay out of our lives and especially out of our pocketbooks. I make a lot of money too and I am getting tired of working so hard to pay for someone else. Guess what? This stimulus program is nothing more than a circle jerk that has cost every recipient much more than they received.

When enough of us decide to stop working and collect our share of entitlements, the whole system comes crashing to the ground. Hmmm, it seems like it is teetering on doing that now.

Oh yeah, to all you feel good socialists, try reading the USA Constitution. It says nothing about taking from those who have and giving to those who have not.

  • who said anything about "take from the rich, give to the poor"? or socialism? The point is.....he's complaining about not getting $600 when he's obviously living a very comfortable lifestyle and probably doesn't need it. He's got nothing to be so angry about.

  • yeah keep bashing me ...sound pretty jealous if you ask me
Sure I make a lot of money now after working 12-16 hour days most of my life
So kiss my comfortable living a$$
Maybe I should hire a CPA to see how much less I can pay to make sure you never get another 600 check

Posted by: darren Aug 5th, 11:39

  • First of all nobody asked you. Second, the word is *envious* not jealous. Third, you have no idea what you're talking about, how do you have ANY control over who gets a $600 check? Damn, the rich really do think they can do anything they desire.

  • WHAAAAAA! I Make Too Much Money!!!! WHAAAA! Get a Clue.

  • I also have no sympathy for the socialists who believe that those who make more are entitled to keep less of their money. My husband and I make decent money, but we worked hard to get where we are. We also paid out huge amounts in school loans, which we are still paying 10 years later! I went to school and work hard at my job so that I don't have to depend on the government or anyone else to provide for me.

I don't think the stimulus payments should ever have been made to anyone, but it is what it is. That said, why should my money go toward people who didn't work hard, go to school, take out huge loans, etc. as I did? Why should my money go to lazy people? With this stimulus plan, even people who paid NOTHING in, got $300 back, which is a joke. If you didn't put anything in, you shouldn't get anything out.

  • Wow, quite the generalizations you have made there!!! I have also worked very hard, taken out loans for school, finished school, etc... Unfortunately, the job market is absolutely horrible right now for recent graduates. No matter how far I throw myself out there, I still cannot seem to land a decent job. I guess delivering pizzas is all that my degree is going to get me.

That said, just because someone has a crappy job with low income, does not mean that they are lazy. Most people who work for low wages have more difficult jobs than people who are paid higher wages. I certainly don't have time to be surfing HOWISPENTMYSTIMULUS.COM at my job. Enjoy playing around on the internet in your air-conditioned office!! Yup, it sure sounds like you are "working" hard!

Posted by: MM needs a reality check! Aug 8th, 14:54

  • WOW. yes, MM you may have worked very hard but you need to be a little more humble. Everyone who isn't rich is NOT LAZY, are teachers lazy? They're not rich. What about students? Are they lazy too? I'd say that most Police officers are not rich either, they probably make less money than you. Be happy in the lifestyle that you live in and stop pointing your golden finger at everyone else. It's only $600 and after all....that's only enough to fill your Over-sized Lexus SUV a couple of times, but for other people it actually puts food on the table.

  • What's wrong with helping the less fortunate? It sounds to me like you're bitter about paying high taxes, your attitude is very unpatriotic and not very Christian. Get off your high horse!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: James Aug 8th, 15:35

  • It is not wrong to help those less fortunate. It is very wrong to rob others to do it. Would you walk up to a "rich man" and rob him at gunpoint so that you could give that money to those less fortunate? That is essentially what the government does.

How is it Christian to let the IRS take money that would help more poor people if it got to a church? How is it patriotic to steal money from rich people (taxes) that could have gone to a more efficient private charity?

The bottom line is that if it's not your money, it's not yours to give away.

  • Render onto Caesar dude...

  • It's always interesting how those who accuse others of generalizing are usually the ones making the biggest assumptions. I never said *all* low-income people are lazy; perhaps I didn't make myself clear enough, but I meant anyone who expects the government to take care of them and/or to give them money they haven't earned is, yes, a lazy whiner. There seems to be a lot of those out there! And no, I don't drive a Lexus (it's a Nissan thank you very much), I don't make six figures, and I don't have a trust fund or rich parents. I simply worked hard and made sacrifices, like moving to the opposite end of the country from everyone/everything I knew and loved to get a good job.

I give to charity and would probably give more if the government wasn't taking my money away thinking they know better what to do with it than I.

  • Think about the idea behind the stimulus, folks. It stands to reason that those with higher wages would likely place a rebate into savings, which defeats the whole purpose of a stimulus!

Rich or poor, refund or no, this was not about you. There's no reason to justify why you did or didn't get your govmint bread!
