LAX to PDX
"I spent my $600 on a train ticket from Los Angeles to Portland. I got a sleeper car as well to fully relax on the 30 hour ride. With the price of gas right now, the train ticket was cheaper than driving!"

Ok Moe I know things are rough with gas but it does not cost $600 to get to portland from LA. Lets do the math. It is 962 miles and lets say you drive 6 cylinder SUV and you get 20 miles to the gallon you would need roughly 48 gallons of gas to get there. Which if we go by the national average of $4.00 a gallon then that would be roughly $192 one way and 14 hours. Even round trip would have saved you a couple hundred dollars.. MOE = FAIL

How did you get around when you got to LA? Rental Car? That would cost you even more.
If you drove your own car, you would have spent a lot on gas, but not as much as a round trip in a sleeper and rental car. Also, you would have saved 15 hrs of your time.
Sure gas prices are at an all time high for us, but Gas prices aren't that high....yet.
