  • Congrats! It's amazing what you can grow in your own backyard. Our neighborhood is starting a community garden up the street. Corn and green beans for everyone!

  • Have you ever read The $64.00 Tomato?

    Unless you want your hobby (an expensive one) to be growing food.

    Grow some basil and make some pesto.
    Grow some tomatoes - a couple of plants.

    A whole garden - not so great - you'll pay out a lot more than you would at a good farmer's market.

  • A good choice, reminds me of WWII when we all had what we called "Victory Gardens" and prayed for our nation and all in authority over us. It was a long war and we had a just cause, same as now. Be thankful we still have a constitution with a 2nd amendment. One of the present candidates said those of us in Pennsylvania cling to our guns, so I will be using my "Stimulus" to buy another gun and use the change for ammunition and range time.
