• The 2nd Amendment - One Stimulus Check At A Time

"I used my own money (the government isn't giving us anything that isn't already ours) to exercise my 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms. This nice, used Glock 23 came with some extra high-capacity magazines. If BO gets in office there is no doubt my rights will be under attack more than they already are. Legal firearm, law-abiding citizen. What makes America great. "

  • I wish more people thought like you. So many have no clue. You hit the nail on the head, my friend!

Posted by: Bobbi May 12th, 20:00

  • The 2nd Amendment is the most idiot law in the world.

Posted by: Frank May 13th, 05:21

  • hmmm, first of all, it's not a law, it's a RIGHT!

Posted by: Wayne May 13th, 05:35

  • I hate guns..I can't think of a more cowardly purchase.

Posted by: New Yorker May 13th, 08:24

  • I can't believe these people. Cowardly? Get real, Buying a gun in today's society is the best thing you can do to protect yourself and your family. Whether its a right or a law....the criminals will always have guns because they are CRIMINALS! How can protecting yourself be cowardly? H-e-l-l-o! It's far from it. We sure can't rely on the police and government to protect us. Half of them are crooks too and putting our safety in their hands sure didn't help on 9-11. THINK PEOPLE, THINK! I too say BRAVO to your purchase!

  • Your rights were fine until Dubya and his minions started peeling them away. Suck that, fool.

    Posted by: A Mouse May 13th, 11:05

  • he's 40, midlife crisis, ignorant too.

Posted by: kyle May 13th, 22:07

  • good purchase, I intend to do the same with mine.

the right to keep and bear arms is the right to self defense. which is the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. therefore self defense is an inalienable right, just as life is. if you take away the means of self defense, you take away the right of self defense.

  • Money well spent indeed!

  • I believe only people who pass a thorough medical and psychiatric exam should be allowed access to firearms. This should include law enforcement and military. If you are mentally fit, then you should have that right. I believe that is Barack Obama's stance on gun control as well, and it is an intelligent one. Any idiot should not be able to buy a gun..that is how students were murdered at VA Tech. This is a different world and I find it funny that the citizens are so eager to defend the constitution, yet those who are making and passing the laws view the constitution as a history archive. The feds don't care about constitutional rights...and it's ignorant to blame Obama for that.

  • Kudos, sir! I just got my Mini-14 worked on by a gunsmith with my stimulus check- it's a great coyote rifle, and I thought it was too sweetly ironic to take what I consider a liberal-minded welfare check and use it to install a bunch of "evil features" like a threaded barrel and a flash hider. Oh no's! The government just funded my "assault rifle"! Tee-hee!

Bobbi is an idiot. Aside from piss-poor grammar and some infantile need to lob insults that were unprovoked, the 2nd Amendment is Constitutional; not criminal. With his second comment about Bush, he only shows that he's one of those super-smart liberals who knows better than the rest of us. What rights have you had peeled away, sir? Exactly how is your day-to-day life different because of "Dubya and his minions"? (And don't mention that you pay less in taxes in now...)

Having said that, I do agree with the quote (incorrectly) attributed to Ben Franklin, "He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither."

A Mouse, once again having no logical argument, proceeds to cast disparaging remarks. It's a step from the liberal playbook, so we can only assume you're doing things right, Tom! LOL.

Dustin, I appreciate your well-written response! However, Obama has stated he would gladly ban ALL semi-auto firearms. No provision for low-capacity rifles like the one I use for coyote hunting. No care for my little .22 soda can plinker and target rifle. That is not a man who is friendly to our Constitutional right, under any circumstances. He just can't say that because it's an election year.

  • Glock = made in Austria? Why not S&W or Ruger?

Posted by: tobay May 14th, 13:39

  • Nevermind. I'M the idiot! LOL. Silly layout of post vs. author shows that Bobbi is just fine! Sorry, Bobbi!

My comments were intended to Frank, A Mouse, and Kyle.

New Yorker is simply... Well, why hate guns? That's like hating a hammer, or a motorcycle engine. It's an inanimate object. To "hate guns" only shows that you've fallen prey to liberal and/or mainstream media programming. I'll never drive an SUV, but I don't hate them. I dislike the attitude prevalent in their DRIVERS...

  • I spent half of my money on 1000 rounds of ammo for my pistol. The other half will likely go to a stripped ar-15 lower.

Posted by: Noah May 15th, 10:30

  • I bought a glock 23 too :P Good buy :)

  • Since your from PA you must be bitter and cling to your guns and religion!

Posted by: Captian Capitalism May 16th, 13:06

  • That's awesome. I was thinking about buying a pocket .380 with mine, however I'll probably just buy a red dot sight for my M4.

    Keep up the good work.

  • It's right behind that other idiotic amendment about free speech or something.

  • For the record____
I never said your constitional right is 'criminal' as you suggested. What I do say is that Criminals will always have guns no matter what laws are passed because they are criminals. It doesn't matter who is elected president. Not a single one of them will be able to stop illegal gun uses so the best solution is for everyone to carry a gun for individual safety. There would be less crime because the honest and hard working and true Americans who care would fight and defend against any criminal. If the world knew that every household had a gun, every business, every bank teller---then most likely they would think twice before committing their crime. And don't just have the gun but LEARN how to aim and shoot it. I see no harm in protecting yourself and your property, your job--This is your constitutional right and no matter what or who you are, it should always be protected and defended. Do you really want to live in a world where the government decides and passes laws as to how you are able to live. Pass enough laws and we will be free?? No quite the opposite----the more laws we pass, the more we must realize we are not a FREE AMERICA AS THE FOUNDERS INTENDED!! We are starting to get away from the constitution and that scares me as it should you. We should be looking to leaders who are willing to defend it just as WE have the right to defend it and ourselves! I am not looking for our next President to LEAD us but to walk beside and support the basic foundations of this nation and to support every single individual's rights as they are and should be now and always.

Posted by: Bobbi May 20th, 22:35

  • That's ok! I understand you. Thanks for saying "Bobbi's fine"
GLAD WE ARE ON THE SAME PAGE! GOD BLESS YOU!

  • If you look closely at B.O. issues on GUN CONTROL, you will actually see he is for controling guns. That whole Virginia Tech thing that you talk about would have occured NO MATTER WHAT! Some crazy idiot got a hold of a gun! First, I must thank you for making my point for me. We are actually in agreement and you don't realize it yet. He was going to get that gun no matter what you, I, or anyone else did because he had "issues," which is exactly my point---those who should never have the guns will always find a way to get the guns illegally so why not have the LEGAL UPSTANDING PEOPLE WHO SUPPORT THIS COUNTRY HAVE THEM TOO? If all the classrooms were ready to fire back, the V.T. situation NEVER WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. Any logical thinking person would have to agree and you know that. I am not saying lets arm our schools but if it was more well known, more taught, more accepted and more understood, this stuff wouldn't happen. Teach that it is OK to have guns and learn gun safety at the high school and college level, this stuff wouldn't happen because people would be more aware, more knowledgeable, and more prepared. Teach that as soon as you CAN shoot, you learn TO shoot, as soon as you can BUY a gun, you BUY one. If this is the practice we taught across the board, that V.T. thing would have never happened. It is this anti-gun, paranoia that has swept across this nation that is contributing to the problem. Yes, YOU ARE CONTRIBUTING TO THE PROBLEM. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER, YOU CAN NOT DISAGREE WITH THIS. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER-----THIS IS WHAT WE TEACH, THIS IS WHAT WE PREACH....oh my except when it comes to the gun topic?!?! Get real---YES, KNOWLEDGE IS POWER AND LET'S EVERYONE BE KNOWLEDGABLE! It's really a 'bout' time! TEACH IT, KNOW IT, LEARN IT!! The fact that we act like it is so taboo IS EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, THIS IS THE FUEL TO THE FIRE WHICH IS CREATING THE GUN PROBLEMS IN THIS COUNTRY! THE FACT THAT YOU ARE AFRAID IS WHAT IS HURTING THIS COUNTRY. BUY A GUN, LEARN THE SAFETY AND HOW TO SHOOT IT. WHEN EVERYONE DOES THIS AND ACCEPTS IT AS LIFE, IT BECOMES A PART OF EVERYONE'S LIFE, IT IS ACCEPTED AND MAINSTREAM AND A WAY OF AMERICAN LIFE...the WAY IT WAS INTENDED TO BE ALWAYS AND SHOULD BE FOREVER INTO THE FUTURE!

Posted by: Bobbi May 20th, 23:54

  • Actually the government isn't giving you money that is already yours, its bringing future money back in time to you ... its like taking $3000 2038-dollars from your children back in time to 2008 to give to you.

  • The Bush regime has taken away more of your rights than any other president in the history of this country under the guise of The Patriot Act. Maybe you should look int that and then go to the PNAC (Project for A New American Century), the taking away of Habeas Corpus, warrantless wiretapping, allowing the military to use force against US citizens..I could go on.

Posted by: LilooDallas May 26th, 14:37

  • I find it interesting that all of these people are whining about W taking away their rights. I don't know about y'all, but I live the same way now as I did before the Pat Act, and if the government wants to listen to me go over a grocery list with my husband on the phone they are more than welcome to.

  • TOUCHE MAN!!!!! I SUPPORT GUNS AND LOTS OF THEM, GUNS FOR EVERYONE (responsibly of course)

Posted by: Tyler May 31st, 13:10

  • Re: LilooDallas' idiotic comment "allowing the military to use force against US citizens..I could go on."

Yeah. 'Cuz all us guys who VOLUNTEERED to serve in the military and protect your dumb ass don't have the intelligence to refuse an unlawful (or immoral, if Democrats pass gun bans) order. When we enlist, we swear to defend this country from ALL threats, foreign AND domestic. That last part means our own government, should they ever go tyrannical and try to disarm the free people we call our citizens.

  • Nice purchase. I've got to agree with Eric though - why didn't you buy from an American manufacturer?

And, don't count Obama out just because you've heard something nutty on a talk radio show. Read his actual gun control proposals. As an Illinois senator, here are some of the proposals he supported:

    1) Require criminal background checks on people who sell guns at trade shows (as is currently required at gun stores).

    2) Limit the sale of guns to 1 per person per month.

    3) Raise the minimum age of ownership to 21.

    4) Track each gun so that a chain of ownership is established (this includes licensing at the point of sale).

    5) Increase the penalties for breaking existing gun laws (ie transporting illegal guns across state borders).

In his words; "We essentially have two realities, when it comes to guns, in this country. You've got the tradition of lawful gun ownership. It is very important for many Americans to be able to hunt, fish, take their kids out, teach them how to shoot. Then you've got the reality of 34 Chicago public school students who get shot down on the streets of Chicago. We can reconcile those two realities by making sure the Second Amendment is respected and that people are able to lawfully own guns, but that we also start cracking down on the kinds of abuses of firearms that we see on the streets."

These all seem like sensible proposals to me. They target the use of handguns to commit gang crimes, while leaving guns readily available for use in hunting and self-protection. I'm curious about other perspectives though. What do you see as the downside of each of these proposals?
